As we move into the colder months we love to switch up our homes, our wardrobes, and of course, our makeup. As the mornings grow colder and darker, the time we want to spend in bed increases tenfold, and that means sacrificing our all too precious getting ready time. A woman knows however, that a little mascara, a touch of blush and bronzer and a great lip is all she needs for a day at the office. As it is the most crucial part of our Autumn makeup routine, we thought we would take you through our favourites lip colours for the season.

Whilst a lot of us are not brave enough to wear the ultra dark vampy look on an everyday basis, it does mean that you can keep the rest of your face minimal. Also you would be surprised at how much more confident you feel in it after you've tried it a few times. Our favourites are MAC Retro Matte 'High Drama' and 'Zoeva Pure Lacquer 'Sensual Curve'.

Now although we love a good seasonal dark lip, we can't forget about our nudes. We do however keep to the more brown undertones in the Autumn as opposed to pink nudes. The colour Emily Ratajkowski is wearing is pure perfection, however, annoyingly, we don't know what that exact colour is. Our favourites Bobbi Brown Luxe Liquid Lip 'Barely Nude' and L'Oreal Colour Riche Shine 'Dazzling Doe' are very similar though.

For a night out we love a glossy berry lip! It is super flattering on all skin tones and looks beautiful with dark hair like Megan Fox's. The particular one she is quite unique however it is the perfect colour to try and recreate for the upcoming holiday season. We achieve it with Colourpop's Ultra Matte 'Rooch', topped with their 'Wolfie' Ultra Gloss.

When you want a bit of colour but don't want to have to worry about the maintenance and top ups throughout the day, then a lip stain is the way to go. The Chanel Le Rouge Duo in 'Tender Beige' is absolutely perfect for day to day, we also love all the colours in the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain collection for even less fuss.

If you're a fan of a vibrant lip, then a beautiful orange red is always a winner in the Autumn months. Shay mitchell looks stunning in this colour and shows that is perfect paired with simple black dress. Experiment with MAC's 'Morange' Amplified Lipstick or if you don't think you will wear it that often, Maybelline's Colour Sensation 'Orange Danger'.

Last but not least is our easy go to, a glossy nude lip. This one however is totally different...(honest!) as it has much more peach undertones. Essentially it's like adding a little pumpkin spice to your classic nude. Our favourites are Nyx Butter Gloss 'Madeline' and Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in 'Amber'.

And there you have it, all the lip colours you need for the colder months. Honestly even if we are just lounging around the home in our pjs and slippers, putting a good lip colour on, always makes us feel more put together and ready for the day. Of course, we are always open to adding to our forever-growing lip collection, so let us know your must-haves in the comments below!

The holiday season is here and we couldn't be more excited! With Christmas parties, champagne, gifts and roast dinners all coming our way, there isn't much to dampen our Christmas spirit. However, what has us less than excited this season is that dreaded 40 mins max window we have to get ready from our dreary rolled out of bed selves (it's December after all...) and transform into gorgeous Christmas party elves. So we thought it would be a wise idea to get together some ideas for quick and easy Christmas party makeup looks we can do in a hurry. We needed several, as we still have no idea what we are wearing... help! (nethertheless, that's tomorrow's stress). And so, of course we wanted to share in the hopes of helping you ladies out as well.

We are all (somewhat) capable of a basic smokey eye, a quick dark eyeshadow blended all over is easy enough and definitely something we can do in a hurry. To give it a little Christmas party touch add a subtle sparkle either in the centre of the lid with a shimmer eyeshadow or you could put some glitter in the inner corner to make more of a statement. Finish the look off with a simple nude gloss and you're good to go!

Ahhh the classic red lip, a perfect go-to for when you're limited on time. It instantly makes you look like you've put more consideration and effort into your look, when, well, you really haven't, winner! The fact we can also pass it off as a Christmas themed look makes it even better. Get yourself a glitter liner and you can easily make it that bit more glamorous.

We absolutely love! this monochrome vampy berry makeup look. A super easy quick look to do, blend the dark berry all over the eye, swipe on a dark lipstick and you're good to go. This makeup look mixed with lots of dainty gold jewellery and there you have it, showstopper vibes with minimum effort.

The quickest way to look party ready is glitter... however it can get messy just as quick. The best idea is to stick to soft pinks and silvers so it doesnt look horrendous if some of it kindly decides to not stay exactly where you put it. A dust of pink shimmer/glitter on the lid and a super shimmery pink gloss will have you party ready in no time.

If you're brave enough then the easiest way to look like a makeup queen in the space of half an hour is to use a bold pop of colour. A green smokey eye definitely switches it up from the typical brown smokey eye and it surprisingly looks good on most colourings. The best part of it is you can go as subtle or as bold as you, for more subtlely just add some green eyeshadow onto the centre of the lid, you know on top of your typical brown smokey eye... (we are not judging). Or different shades of green to create a full blown committed green look, and as with the red lip it is perfect to pass off as a festive colour.

Hopefully this helps inspire some ideas for you to try in your mad rush to get ready and will have you looking like the belle of the ball at your Christmas party. Let us know in the comments below if try any of these looks.

When it finally hits the time of the year, that the sun is no longer shining and we aren't concerned with only packing a pair of cute sunnies, it's officially time to give our must-have handbag essentials a much needed update. Unfortunately our carefree, relaxed attitude is long gone, along with last rays of sunshine and we can no longer leave the house with just our phones and bank card (and of course the aforementioned pair of cute sunnies).
Instead we now need a lot more things quick to hand at a moment's notice, so we have compiled a list of our essentials that, trust us, you need this Autumn and Winter. And while our handbag contents may now have tripled, we promise we wont actually make you pack the kitchen sink!
    A fold-up umbrella
An obvious one, but ultimately one we have been caught way too many times without! A mistake we are not in any rush to make again. Which is why it has made it straight to the top of our list of essentials, if only to serve as a reminder to ourselves on a daily basis. If you are well and truly traumatised by previous experiences (we most definitely are! - that Bridget Jones scene when she was soaked to the bone, right before she stormed into Mr Darcy's office to declare her undying love, you know the one... - yes, we have been that kind of drenched before now!). Then you may be more than happy to commit to a full (non-fold-up kind) of umbrella. The ones that unfortunately don't conveniently fold up into our handbags, but whilst not the most practical, they are slightly bigger, more durable and overall better quality a lot of the time, that it may be worth investing.
Moving on to the other highly un-glamorous essential you will find currently residing in our handbags, tissues. An absolute must this time of year! You don't want to find yourself in the horrifying experience with your nose running like a tap (it happens) and no tissue in sight to save the day. Tissues are also super useful for the ridiculous watering eyes we also seem to find ourselves experiencing around this time of year, someone care to explain what that is even about? All we can tell you is that black mascara running down our faces is not a cute look.
    Lip balm
Ahh the season of pumpkin spiced lattes, holiday spirit, cosy knits, and oh yes, dryness. Lots and lots of dryness. Honestly it feels as though we give up all our moisture in exchange for the happiness everything else these seasons bring us (sadly a sacrifice we would be more than willing to make). Dry cracked lips however is just not something we are content with having, so instead we have copious amounts of lip balm to keep them soft and moisturised. We also love a good lip scrub to make sure we are removing any dry skin beforehand, for the best chapped lips combat routine.
    Hand cream
Unfortunately our hands also suffer from the painstaking dryness this wonderful season brings, so we always make sure we have some hand cream on hand (sorry! we had to...) throughout the colder months. With so many to choose from it is also super easy to find a scent that you adore, that will make you want to re-apply it multiple times a day (or hour, who are we kidding).
    Hair serum & hair brush
No matter how much time you spend doing your hair in the morning, if your commute includes any sort of exposure to the elements, then your masterpiece is ultimately going to be destroyed. All it takes is a strong gust of wind for your beautiful bouncy blow or perfectly polished beach waves to become a horrifying static tangled mess. This can easily be rectified however with a little anti frizz hair serum and a hair brush, both of which you can get in small compact versions, so we suggest you forget neither!
    Makeup essentials
Again, same scenario as your hair, if you find yourself in an unexpected catastrophe, you need something to help rectify the situation. If you aren't someone who likes carrying your whole makeup collection around with you (who does?) then our essentials would be:
Mascara - for those times we previously mentioned, when your eye decides to water uncontrollably and kindly takes all of your mascara off for you... er, thanks?
Eyeliner - unless you're purposefully going for the smudgy kohl look, then messy eyeliner is never a good look (and you can't pass it off as purposefully smudgy eyeliner, when it isn't, believe us!) so as the saying goes, better safe than sorry, pack it just in case.
Powder - easier to apply and more convenient to carry than your liquid foundation, this is a necessity for the times when your foundation has decided the inside of your beanie requires more coverage than you do. A cream compact foundation is also amazing to have in this situation, for those of us who are simply just too dry for any more powder.
Lipliner - instantly helps gives you a more polished look and blended in with your trusty lip balm it helps add a bit of colour on the days you just couldn't bare to put your favourite matte (aka drying) lipstick on.
    Hand sanitiser
Now we know we are showing a lot of love to our hands and you're thinking surely I dont need to lug around several products for my hands alone... but at this time of the year, just in case you weren't aware, everyone is getting sick. Unless you want to be stuck inside with a case of the sniffles all weekend (because guaranteed it hits the hardest in your own time and not during work) then we highly suggest you have some hand sanitiser readily available for when someone sneezes or coughs a little too close to comfort.
    Perfume Sample
We love a good sample, who of us doesn't? Amazingly last year most of the popular scents actually had a small 10-15ml tube of the perfume specifically designed for your handbag within their perfume Christmas gift sets. While they don't last forever they do give us a much needed pick me up in the afternoons and are a lifesaver when you accidently overslept and forgot to spray perfume before you left the house. If you don't yet have a signature scent then we wish you luck in your hunt for 'the one' with all those tiny 2ml bottles they give you in boots. After all, Christmas isn't for nearly another 2 months yet... those little bottle can last you (especially if you pick up some more from a different sales associate than last time).
While temperatures haven't yet hit freezing, we are not far off and it's better to be prepared and get a cute pair of gloves before all the good ones are sold out! We actually have launched some gorgeous winter accessories this year at Pretty You, that we think you ladies would love! Some gloves have super soft luxurious faux fur and we have a pair of glamorous sparkly embellished handwarmers, as well as some beautifully wrapped sets. Get yours ready for when the cold well and truly hits, as blue fingers are most definitely not cute!
Let's be honest when it's cold and miserable outside we don't want to go anywhere we don't absolutely need to be, we want to be cosy at home in our slippers and loungewear as much as physically possible. The best way to manage this is to stay organised! Where do we need to go, what do we need to do and what do we need to get. Keeping this all organised and written out in a diary/planner clearly really helps us stay focused and manage our time most effectively, as it is a high priority that we fit all of our Netflix binges in, obviously.
Let us know in the comments below if there is something you can't leave the house without during the Autumn and Winter months that we didn't include! Because no doubt we will need to...

Another fashion month has come to an end, we have seen new york, london, milan and finally paris. There is set to be many new trends, some exciting, some not so exciting (but hey, that's extravagant runway collection for you!).
As the saying goes, trends come and go, but style lasts forever... so we have rounded up the top 3 shows and top 3 makeup looks that fit in with our already established style and won our Pretty You hearts the moment we saw them. Gorgeous soft pastels, lots of sparkle, beautiful floral embroidery and overall represents an effortless glamour with a very pretty, girly twist. Valentino (obviously...), Alberta Ferretti and Blumarine were most definitely our stand out winners and I think from the pictures below its not hard to see why.
Now for the makeup... Balmain was all about the flawless glowing skin, thick full eyebrows and a super natural glossy lips, something so easy to recreate for a pretty everyday makeup look to the office.
Of course we absolutely love this soft smokey winged eyeshadow at Versace, paired with gold on the bottom lash this is perfect for a dinner and cocktails night with the girls!
Ok, so we know the Topshop Unique glitter eye is a difficult one to recreate without looking like a 5 year old did our makeup, however we can definitely do an 'inspired' look and incorporate some glitter into our look for a glam night out, can't we?!
Be sure to let us know who were your favourites this fashion month in the comments below!

Autumn is officially here... which means we can finally start wearing all of our cosy knits, drinking cups of warm tea on a continuous rotation and of course, we get to start rocking our favourite autumn makeup looks.
Now while each season comes with weird and wonderful wacky makeup trends, let's be honest we are only going to start incorporating the most wearable ones into our day-to-day look. So we have rounded up the old faithful classics and the new brave (but do-able) trends all into one place for you.
Ahh the classic autumnal bold darker lip, how we have missed you, old friend! Clearly this is nothing new, however we consistently go back to this each and every year. Whilst some of you may be thinking 'I can't possibly pull off a red lip!' we got news for you, you can! As with foundation, not having the right undertone, can turn any hot fire look into a hot mess in 2 seconds flat. So be sure to experiment with different tones and find the one that compliments your colouring best, you know, exactly how you did with those 400 nudes you own...! However if you just really don't think red is your colour, then don't skip out on the look altogether, instead try a muted brown or berry colour.
Ok let's be honest, our autumnal 'warm smokey eyes' are essentially, near enough identical, to what we have done all throughout summer, only thats our 'bronzed goddess' looks. So we use slightly more orange-y, redder colours in the autumn and more bronze-y, golder colours through the summer. Yes we may use the exact same eyeshadow palettes, and yes, sometimes even the exact same eyeshadows but they are utterly, completely, totally, different looks. Honest.
This has got to be one of our favourite things about Autumn makeup... lots and lots and lots of blush. Whilst a lot of us still wear it throughout the summer, we certainly don't pack it on to the extent of what we do bronzer, because it looks less youthful and cute, and more sweaty and hot. So needless to say in the colder autumn and winter months is when blusher really has its time to shine. Flushed rosy cheeks bring a super youthful and glowy look to the skin and better still it makes super minimal makeup look perfectly polished off.
Brows have been a huge trend over the past few years and in that time they have gone from perfectly arched, not a single hair out of place, to messily bushy, to then even squiggly?! This Autumn we are still loving a good strong thick brow but if you want to stay super on trend fill some hairs in underneath your natural brows to create a more straight, less arched brow as seen in the images above. Whether you prefer them more clean and sharp looking or more natural and messy, whether you prefer filling them in with pomade, pencil or powder, ensure to invest in some eyebrow gel. This adds that extra needed volume and keeps your brow hair in place all day long.
There were tons of pops of colour all over the lids at the AW17 shows, usually a mono colour, including purples, reds, oranges, greens, basically the whole rainbow. However it was much more editorial looks on the catwalk that we couldn't in a million years pull off going into the office. So instead we have found softer smokier looks to incorporate the colour trend, however admittedly these will more than likely be reserved for nights out. We love a little experimental colour and this is the perfect way to make a statement but the thing we love most about this trend is that you can make it as subtle or as bold as you want. With full blown party season quickly appraoching we think we know which one we are going to lead towards...
Hopefully this helps inspire you into trying something a little new with your makeup as we transition into the colder months and let us know in the comments if you try any of these out!
